Survey finds that the modern workforce is the blended workforce with passion being a major driving force
MINNEAPOLIS – June 2, 2016 – Field Nation, the leading marketplace platform for contingent and on-demand workforce management, today shared the results of a new study titled “The 2016 Field Nation Freelancer Study”. The study surveyed 863 users registered to the Field Nation platform and uncovered the factors that contribute to the growth of freelance work.
One major driving factor is the pursuit of passion by professional freelancers and a deeper examination reveals a large percentage of freelancers who identify themselves as small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Some key findings of this study include:
- 86% of freelancers intentionally chose to freelance.
- For 94% of the respondents, freelancing is a regular source of income.
- 96% of freelancers are committed to the success of the customer’s business.
- 88% of freelancers have a clear sense of how their work impacts their clients.
The Field Nation freelancer study found a general sentiment of empowerment among freelancers since freelancing is not as fiscally risky as it was in the past. The blended workforce, a combination of workers with various employment statuses, is fueling the opportunities that motivate freelancers to stay highly engaged and collaborative since they can pursue their passions. Furthermore, high engagement rates often lead to more top quality work and the ability to command a higher rate due to the quality of work. The study also found that 72% of professional freelancers on the Field Nation platform were making the same or more money than they were making when traditionally employed.
The findings of the study confirmed a portion of a previous study from Field Nation and Future Workplace, an executive development firm, which examined freelancer satisfaction.
