If Field Nation ever had a model service provider, Corey Mattaliano would be it. Hailing from Buena Park, CA, Mattaliano has a 5-star performance rating and almost 2,000 jobs completed on the platform. With nearly 30 years of experience, he is also a recognized Protec Provider, which is an elite qualification offered to Field Nation’s top technicians.
Specializing in IT technical support services that range from point-of-sales systems and telecommunications, to low-voltage cabling and computer support, Mattaliano is also the owner of his own service company, OfficeTech Professionals. Founded in 2005, the company’s origins stemmed from a series of unique circumstances which began in the early 1980s.
Discovering his passion for technical services in a high school computer class, Mattaliano would go on to pursue an education in the same industry following a brief stint in college.
“It was during the early Apple days, back then,” Mattaliano says. “I got my first job working on mainframes, and then due to some extra taxes I had to pay, I got a second job working on microcomputers. That got me into networking and after that, I went full-time.”
After several years of building up his resume and gaining hands-on experience, Mattaliano landed a position as a Help Desk Supervisor at a regional bank. Over the next 12 years Mattaliano was able to hone his technical skills and expand his foundation of working with clients and developing relationships.
Everything changed, however, in 2005, when the bank was purchased and underwent a corporate merger. The change in ownership and structure bore little resemblance to its predecessor, and Mattaliano was eventually let go.
But as the old saying goes – when one door closes, another opens.
“When the bank went to convert their old computer system to the new computer system, they actually discovered that the company they were using was from out of state,” Mattaliano says, “so they needed someone to set up the program.”
Recognizing the opportunity that had just presented itself, Mattaliano rushed into action.
“I was let go on a Friday and opened the doors to my own company the following Monday,” Mattaliano says. “My first call was to service those computers.”
In what proved to be the most fortuitous moment of his career, the future of OfficeTech Professionals has continued to gain steam. In the time since, the company has expanded its coverage to include five counties and hired additional contractors to help meet demand. Mattaliano notes that by using Field Nation’s FMS platform, he is able to manage the high volume of work that comes in as well as push work out to other contractors.
“It has been a great partnership with Field Nation so far,” he says. “I like that they help me not just as an individual, but also as a company.”
Using Field Nation to help manage and grow his business is something Mattaliano says is a major factor in his ten-year plan.
“I would be interested in merging with another company,” he says. “Right now, we’re just a small service company of independent contractors and I would like to work with an established organization that could help us grow. We would bring in our expertise and grow together from there.”
