The holidays are one of the busiest times of the year for technicians. Work orders are getting posted at a rapid pace and schedules are filling up fast. Here are a few tips to manage your schedule and maximize your revenue potential this holiday season.
Login to Field Nation the night before to check your schedule and prepare for your upcoming work. Review key areas including location, start time, required tools, and any prep work that may be required.
Tip: if you often forget to log in to Field Nation the night before, set an alarm on your phone.
As a Field Nation technician, you’re in charge of your own schedule- but that’s not an excuse to over-book yourself. When planning your schedule, take into consideration travel time between work orders to make sure you have enough time to get to each job site. Give yourself a time buffer on each work order in case anything happens during a job that may require you to be on-site for a longer period of time.
Tip: we recommend a 2-hour time buffer between jobs.
Communicate cancellations with clients immediately
If you are unable to make it to a scheduled work order please report ‘Remove Assignment’ as soon as possible. The more notice you give, the more time clients have to find a new technician. After you have reported Remove Assignment, we recommend that you leave a message for the client within the work order Messages. This ensures that the buyer will be notified in multiple places and showcases strong communication skills, professionalism, and responsibility.
Tip: if you must cancel a work order, make sure your message to the client is professional.
Bad example: I drank WAY too much eggnog last night, sorry I can’t come in today.
Good example: Ms. Smith, unfortunately, I am unable to complete work order 100001 tomorrow, December 10, due to a family emergency. I appreciate your understanding.
